Minister Bruton has today published the Digital Learning Framework for Schools, one of the key supports envisaged under the Digital Strategy for Schools 2015-2020. In implementing the Digital Learning Framework, schools and teachers are given a structure which will allow them to identify where they are on the journey towards embedding digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment, and enable them to progress in that journey.
The Department is seeking expressions of interest from schools to participate in a trial of this new Framework. The trial will involve a representative sample of approximately 30 primary and 20 post primary schools selected from those schools that have expressed an interest in participating. Those schools will receive intensive support and mentoring from fellow professionals. It is expected that the Framework will in due course be implemented across all schools and teacher education programmes.
Further information on the Digital Learning Framework and the trial, including the online application, is available on the Department’s website at: https://www.education.ie/en/Schools-Colleges/Information/Information-Communications-Technology-ICT-in-Schools/DLF.html and https://www.education.ie/en/Schools-Colleges/Information/Information-Communications-Technology-ICT-in-Schools/ict-expression-of-interest-form.html
